Seven Useful Tips to Pass Theory Test

You must need a diving license for an unsupervised driving on the roads of UK. Before getting through your practical driving test you required to pass driving theory test first. There are two parts of theory test first is multiple choice part and second is hazard perception test. You need to prepare well to score maximum in these tests, this requires an in-depth knowledge of driving rules and a good practice of theory test questions and hazard perception test. Here are some tips which you can follow to pass your theory test in first attempt:

  1. Start reading some of the DSA publications to learn about Highway codes and rules, they are easily available at bookshops or you can read them online. Revise few of the topics daily, it is good idea to make a schedule by distribute the topics according to the time or days available with you.
  2. Find out an online resource to practice for theory test questions as the multiple choice area will be the most important part of the theory test. You need to answer 43 questions correctly out of 50 randomly selected multiple choice questions to pass. You will be given 57 minutes to complete the test; therefore practice is essential to answer all the questions well in time.
  3. Many online resources are available on the internet which offers online theory test practice such as theorytest.info. They can provide you with an opportunity to undertake the mock tests with questions that are very similar to those which are designed by Driving Standard Agencies (DSA).
  4. You can identify your weak points you are not strong by taking these mock test. Keep on retaking these mock theory tests until the answer stores in your mind. Start your preparation at least a month before your theory test date.
  5. When you feel confident enough that you are fully prepared for multiple choice questions than start preparing for the second part of the test which is called hazard perception test.
  6. Hazard perception test is designed to assess your hazard perception. In this test you would be shown at least 14 videos on your computer screen. These videos would be of about one minute each. You can score between 0 and 5 on each hazard. Therefore the maximum you can score is 75 (i.e. 15 hazards x 5) and in order to pass you need a score of 44.
  7. Online hazard perception practice is the best way to prepare well. You will be shown some video clips related to some particular driving situations and you would have to show your awareness by clicking on the screen of your computer. Whenever you see hazards developing you must click the left mouse button to acknowledge that you've seen the hazard. There may be several hazards in each clip, must click for all hazards you spot. You should avoid clicking excessively as the national hazard perception test will detect cheating! It is best to click for each time anything moves whether it is a traffic sign, vehicle or pedestrian walking in the distance.

According to my personal experience passing a driving theory test is not a very difficult task if executed wisely with a good former practice. Don’t get nervous while attempting the test, stay calm, focused and confident to prevent loss of any information.
